I ended up reworking my Senior Portfolio yet again. My final idea was to do portraits of each of my main characters, paired up as foils, with each one representing a specific trait. This is Kaid and Theore, their characters embody the traits of logic and emotion respectively. Textures from ~dazzle-textures

I spent about a bajillion hours painting this thing but it was worth it. My final for my History of Illustration class was to create a self-promotional poster/self-portrait incorporating some influences of one of the artists we learned about this semester. I chose J. C. Leyendecker and tried to slightly imitate his vibrant colors, warm/cool double light sources, and realistic yet semi-cartoony illustrative style. But most importantly, Sambu and I are in space! And I have a ray gun! Why are we in space? Because space is cool.

This was a combination of deciding to try out ArtRage and seeing the Wayne Thiebaud exhibit at the Laguna Art Museum today. ArtRage is an awesome program for fun, loose stuff btw. Anyway...I've seen Wayne Thiebaud's work in person before, and I loved it even more this time. His use of color just makes everything look so iridescent. If you happen to live in the Laguna Beach, CA area, I definitely recommend checking out the exhibit. It'll be up until January 27.
